Local Intel

Race morning, downtown gets sealed. Congress Avenue shuts from Cesar Chavez up to 11th by 4:00 AM Saturday, and by 6:00 AM Sunday every street the course touches is closed. Marathon and half both fire at 7:00 AM, Congress at Cesar Chavez. The 5K follows at 8:40. Official guidance puts your runner at the line 30 to 45 minutes early, and honestly, that's right. Cross streets close just ahead of the lead runner and reopen behind the last one. The clock never stops moving.

The one fact that runs the whole day

No car crosses Congress while the race is on. It splits downtown clean in two, north to south. That single barricade dictates everything. East-side pickups, we come in off I-35 to Cesar Chavez. West-side, we run MoPac (Loop 1) and drop in at 5th or 6th. Misjudge it and you're parked at a barrier with no left turn for ten blocks, watching the morning slip away.

SoCo and the parking picture

South Congress is basically cut off all morning. Only a handful of crossings stay open between Oltorf and Live Oak. The first three miles climb south on SoCo toward Ben White before doubling back, so Travis Heights and that whole stretch wall off early. Cross streets down there reopen somewhere around 9:00 to 9:30 AM, later up near the start at Cesar Chavez, closer to 10:00. The event sells no parking passes. Regular garages handle it fine. One Texas Center at 505 Barton Springs runs $21 daily max and sits closest to the start of any practical paid option. Indeed Tower at 200 W 6th is about $8 for twelve hours. Metered street parking downtown is usually free on Sundays. Read the signs before you trust any of it.

The Chauffeured Experience

Here's how we run a marathon morning. You book us hourly, as-directed, and the car stays with you start to finish. We don't drop you and disappear. We're your car and chauffeur for the day, on call, working off your schedule instead of ours.

It begins before sunrise. Runner going off at 7:00? We want them near the line by 6:15 or 6:20, which puts our pickup right as the closures tighten up. We've done enough of these to read the approach off which side of Congress you're sitting on, then stage somewhere we can actually loop back to you. While they're running, the car isn't idling for nothing. We position for whatever spectator spots matter to you. Enfield Road. The Hyde Park stretch. The UT area. Then we swing toward the finish at Congress and 9th, in front of the Capitol, timed to when your runner realistically comes through. Tired legs and a long walk to a cold garage is a brutal way to cap 26.2. We'd rather have warm seats and cold water waiting.

Congestion is the thing we're really fighting. Moving across town with the core shut down, we take I-35 or MoPac plus the toll routes, SH-130 and the SH-71 toll lane, to swing wide around the downtown snarl instead of grinding it out on the exit ramps. Bigger group? The Flagship Jetliner Sprinter seats up to 10 with Starlink Wi-Fi, climate control, and room to lay out a recovery spread. Smaller party, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade takes up to 6. Both carry complimentary water and ice, and BYOB is welcome for guests 21 and up. For race day we can also coordinate purchasing parking access so we stage close. We handle that one case by case.

Why The Jetliner

01

The car stays with you all morning

Booked hourly and as-directed, your chauffeur and vehicle ride with your group from the pre-dawn pickup straight through the finish. No second booking. No waiting on a callback.

02

We plan around the Congress Avenue split

No car crosses Congress during the race. So we set the approach by your side of the street: I-35 to Cesar Chavez for east, MoPac to 5th and 6th for west. You're never stuck behind a barricade.

03

Toll routing around the closed core

With the downtown grid shut, we run SH-130 and the SH-71 toll lane to swing wide of the jam. Beats sitting dead on a clogged I-35 exit ramp.

04

Finish-line timing, not a cold garage walk

We position near Congress and 9th, timed to when your runner actually crosses. Recovery means warm seats and cold water, not a long hike to a parking deck.

05

The right vehicle for the party

The Flagship Jetliner Sprinter carries up to 10 with Starlink Wi-Fi and climate control. The 2025 Cadillac Escalade takes up to 6. Water and ice on board, and BYOB is welcome for guests 21+.

06

Close staging when it's possible

For race day we can arrange paid parking access in advance, getting the vehicle staged near your pickup or finish point. Arranged case by case as a premium option.

Questions, answered

How early should we leave for a 7:00 AM start?

For a 7:00 gun we want your runner near the line by 6:15 or 6:20, so our pickup lands earlier than that. The closures keep tightening through the early morning. We build the timing backward from the start and from the side of Congress you're on.

Can you drop us right at the start on Congress?

Congress at Cesar Chavez is mile zero, and it's barricaded race morning. So we stage as close as the closures let us and your runner walks the last stretch in. We pick the approach so that walk stays short and lands on the correct side of Congress.

Will the car wait while my runner is on the course?

Yes. This is hourly, as-directed service. The car and chauffeur stay with you the whole time. While your runner's out there we position for spectator spots like Enfield, Hyde Park, or the UT area, then move toward the finish on their pace.

Is there a minimum booking?

There's a minimum hourly booking, and a marathon morning runs past it easily once you add up the pre-dawn pickup, the spectating, and the finish-line pickup. Tell us your runner's wave and your spectator plan and we'll map the hours.

Which vehicle works for our group?

Up to six, take the 2025 Cadillac Escalade. Bigger crew or a family hauling gear, the Flagship Jetliner Sprinter seats up to 10, has Starlink Wi-Fi, and gives you room to lay out a recovery spread. Both run climate control and premium audio.

Can you get us close to the finish at the Capitol?

The finish is Congress near 9th, right in front of the State Capitol, and that's deep inside the closure zone. We stage at the nearest open point, and for an event this size we can coordinate purchasing parking access to get the vehicle closer. Arranged case by case.

How does The Jetliner Austin ensure timely early morning drop-offs for Austin Marathon runners and spectators?

Marathon mornings run as hourly charters, so your chauffeur and vehicle stay staged nearby for the whole booking. We plan the pre-dawn pickup backward from your runner's start time and the closure schedule, which is how a drop-off lands on time while downtown is sealing up.

What are the vehicle options and capacities for transporting groups and race gear to the Austin Marathon?

For the Austin Marathon, you can choose a Mercedes Sprinter, which accommodates up to 10 passengers and 8 bags, or a 2025 Cadillac Escalade, suitable for up to 6 passengers. Both provide ample space for participants and their gear.

What post-race amenities and refreshment options are available for recovery after the Austin Marathon?

After the Austin Marathon, our hourly charter service keeps your vehicle and chauffeur staged nearby for an immediate pickup. Aboard the Flagship Jetliner Sprinter you can recover with Starlink Wi-Fi, dual LCD screens with Apple TV, privacy partitions, premium audio, and air conditioning. We provide complimentary water and ice; BYOB is permitted for ages 21+.
