SXSW EDU 2027 runs March 13 through 16, the Saturday-to-Tuesday front end of the bigger SXSW week, with the main event following March 15 through 21. And the old routine is still gone. The Austin Convention Center is shut for renovation until 2029, which means there's no one building to pull up to anymore. EDU has spread out across downtown instead. In 2026 that meant the Fairmont, the Hilton Austin, all three Marriotts, the Line, the Omni, the Thompson, and a historic blues venue on top of that, with the Keynote and the Featured Sessions landing at the Hilton Austin on E. 4th. Expect the same downtown spread in 2027, with the venue map firming up closer to March.

The closure zone you'll actually be moving through

Most of these hotels pack into a tight grid between Congress and I-35, call it 2nd up to 7th. Same stretch happens to be the worst of the closures. In 2026, Congress went dark from W 10th down to E 7th in the middle of EDU, not the tail end of it, and the I-35 ramps at Cesar Chavez, 8th, and 6th opened and closed all week, so the exit you'd reach for usually wasn't there. Count on the same choreography in 2027. The city itself tells drivers to come in through central Austin on MoPac instead of grinding through surface streets. We've run it that way for years.

Parking and the curb

Garages near the EDU cluster are full by 9am. The 2nd Street, 5th Street, and Brazos garages? Gone by then, and the official lots sell out weeks out. Drop zones get geofenced around the Fairmont and up Congress, and attendees are flat-out told to walk 2 to 3 blocks because nothing on wheels reaches the venue door inside the zone. The people who do this every March know the trick: drop on the edge and walk the last stretch in.

The Chauffeured Experience

Here's how we run an EDU day. You book the car and chauffeur by the hour, as-directed, and we stick with you start to finish. Nobody's re-summoning a ride between sessions. Nobody's standing on a corner watching a dot crawl across a map. Your chauffeur already knows where you're headed and when, and the vehicle stages close by so there's no wait when you walk out.

The real challenge this week isn't distance. It's timing and the route. Five miles to the airport can be 15 minutes, or it can be 45, depending entirely on the hour you leave. We keep a hard eye on I-35, which buckles worst in the late afternoon and evening, exactly when sessions break and everyone pours out at once, and we plan around it. Heading east or north toward AUS, we'll usually peel off onto US-183 at 7th or Cesar Chavez, or jump on TX-130 to skip the I-35 core completely. Coming in for a morning Keynote at the Hilton, we set the approach early so the ramp shutdowns and street closures don't strand you a block short of the door.

Bringing a team? The Flagship Jetliner Sprinter is the one. Seats up to 10, Starlink Wi-Fi so the group can keep working between venues, climate control, real privacy, and premium audio. Smaller party, go with the 2025 Cadillac Escalade. It takes up to 6, with climate control and premium audio. Complimentary water and ice ride along in both, and guests 21 and over are welcome to bring their own.

Want the vehicle staged as tight to a venue as the closures let us get? We can set up paid parking or staging access for you, worked out one situation at a time. Think of it as a premium thing we arrange, not a guarantee the curb will be open, because most of the time inside the zone it won't be. From AUS during SXSW we pad the schedule on purpose, usually 30 to 60 extra minutes, since the security lines and the pickup crush go sideways that week with no warning.

Two vehicles, one calendar. Event weekends go first.

Why The Jetliner

01

Your car stays with you all day

Booked by the hour, as-directed, the chauffeur and the vehicle move on your clock across sessions, dinners, and whatever runs late into the night. No app. No corner-waiting between venues.

02

We route around the closures

Congress is shut and the downtown I-35 ramps flicker open and closed, so we plan for it. MoPac on the way in, US-183 and TX-130 for the east and north runs, and an approach laid out so you're not stuck a block from the entrance.

03

Built for the EDU hotel cluster

The Hilton, the Fairmont, the three Marriotts, the Omni, the Line, the Thompson, we know where a car can genuinely reach and where you'll be walking the last block. The drop gets planned ahead, not figured out on the fly.

04

The Sprinter keeps your team working

Starlink Wi-Fi, climate control, privacy, premium audio, all in the Flagship Jetliner Sprinter for up to 10. The ride between venues becomes one more working block instead of dead time.

05

Staging access we can arrange

For an arrival that matters, we'll coordinate paid parking or staging near the venue, set up case by case as a premium option, so the car sits as close as the closure zone will allow.

06

Airport runs with real buffer

For your AUS pickup or departure we bake in the extra 30 to 60 minutes SXSW week wants, plus flight tracking and a meet and greet, so a slow security line doesn't wreck the rest of your day.

Questions, answered

Can you pick me up right at the Hilton or the Fairmont for SXSW EDU?

As close as the closures let us. The session hotels sit inside the geofenced zone, and Congress has shut from W 10th to E 7th in past editions, so the exact curb shifts by venue and by the hour. We'll set a clean pickup point nearby, often a short walk, with your chauffeur staged and ready the moment you step out.

How does booking work for the conference days?

Hourly and as-directed, with a minimum. The car and chauffeur stay with you for the block you reserve, a few hours around the Keynote or a full day spanning a half-dozen venues. You're not re-booking a ride every time you move.

Can you handle airport runs during SXSW EDU?

We do. AUS pickups and drop-offs come with flight tracking and a meet and greet. Downtown's only about 5 miles from the airport, but we build in 30 to 60 minutes of buffer that week because the security lines and pickup crush are anyone's guess. When I-35 is jammed we'll take US-183 or TX-130 instead.

Which vehicle should I book?

Traveling as a group? The Flagship Jetliner Sprinter seats up to 10 and runs Starlink Wi-Fi, so the team keeps working between sessions. Up to 6, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade is the call. Both have climate control and premium audio, plus complimentary water and ice.

Can you get the car parked close to a venue?

We can coordinate paid parking or staging access near a venue, handled case by case as a premium option. It keeps the vehicle close for an arrival or departure that matters. It's not a guarantee the curb itself opens up, since the closure zone blocks vehicle access to most venue doors.

What about getting between EDU venues during the day?

That's the whole point of hourly as-directed. Your chauffeur stays put with you and we time every move around the late-afternoon I-35 slowdown and those downtown ramp closures, so a five-minute hop never balloons into a wait.

How do I reserve?

Call 737-200-5252 or request a quote at thejetliner.com. Give us your EDU dates, your session hotels, and any airport timing, and we'll build the day around your schedule. EDU week fills up fast, so the earlier the better.

How many people can you move between EDU venues?

Up to 10 passengers with 8 bags in the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, or up to 6 passengers with 6 bags in the 2025 Cadillac Escalade. One vehicle, one chauffeur, and the whole team moves together on the same clock.

Can we book coverage for multiple conference days?

Yes. Reserve an hourly block for each day you need, or for the full run of EDU. We build the schedule around your sessions and keep it flexible, because conference days never end when the agenda says they will.

Can the team keep working between sessions?

The Sprinter runs Starlink Wi-Fi and dual screens with Apple TV, so the ride between venues becomes one more block of the workday. Complimentary water and ice come in both vehicles, and BYOB is welcome for guests 21 and up.
